A film school is any educational institution dedicated to teaching aspects of filmmaking, including such subjects as film production, film theory, digital media production, and screenwriting. Film history courses and hands-on technical training are usually incorporated into most film school curricula. Technical training may include instruction in the use and operation of cameras, lighting equipment, film or video editing equipment and software, and other relevant equipment. Film schools may also include courses and training in such subjects as television production, broadcasting, audio engineering, and animation.
The formal teaching of film began with theory rather than practical technical training starting soon after the development of the film making process in the 1890s. Early film theorists were more interested in writing essays on film theory than in teaching students in a classroom environment. The Moscow Film School was founded in 1919 with Russian filmmakers including Sergei Eisenstein, Vsevolod Pudovkin, and Lev Kuleshov serving as faculty to disseminate their very distinct viewpoints on the purpose of film.
$30 Film School is a book written by Michael W. Dean on how to make films on a limited budget, and is part of the $30 School book series which includes $30 Music School and $30 Writing School. Like the other books of this series, $30 Film School advocates a start-to-finish DIY ethic, and includes interviews with professionals in the given field, as well as a CD or DVD of extras.
Published by Muska & Lipman in 2003, the first edition sold 30,000 copies. The second edition was released in March 2006, and included a DVD featuring software, tutorials, and 14 short films by graduates of the first edition. The book is used in college and university media courses on filmmaking, such as Humanistinen Ammattikorkeakoulu (university of applied sciences) in Finland,
$30 Film School has been used as source material for several Master Degree dissertations.
It was reported that at age 9, and by following instructions in the book, filmmaker Emma Kenney created the film The New Girl in Town which was shown at New Jersey International Film Festival.
Film School was a five-piece indie rock band from San Francisco, California.
The band was formed in 1998 by lead singer Greg Bertens [aka Krayg Burton]. Initially the band only consisted of Bertens working with members of Fuck and Pavement when they released their debut album Brilliant Career on MeToo! records in 2001. Jason Ruck (keyboards), Nyles Lannon (guitarist), Justin Labo (bass guitar), and Ben Montesano (drums) joined the band on a permanent basis later that year.
In 2003, the band released Alwaysnever, an EP on Amazing Grease Records, a record label founded by Scott Kannberg from the band Pavement. Donny Newenhouse later replaced Montesano on drums. Their self-titled album was released in January 2006 on Beggars Banquet Records. Film School has also provided music for a series of short films by Demetri Martin, known collectively as "Clearification", an advertising campaign for Windows Vista.
Film School released its third album (its second on Beggars Banquet) called Hideout in September 2007 after going through some line-up changes. Lorelei Plotczyk / Lorelei Meetze replaced Justin Labo on bass, Dave Dupuis replaced Nyles Lannon on guitar, and James Smith replaced Donny Newenhouse on drums. Hideout was recorded with Dan Long and mixed by Phil Ek.
Korea, called Chosŏn (Korean: 조선; Hanja: 朝鮮) in North Korea and Hanguk (Korean: 한국; Hanja: 韓國) or Daehanminkuk (Korean: 대한민국; Hanja: 大韓民國) in South Korea, is an East Asian territory that is divided into two distinct sovereign states: North Korea, formally the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), and South Korea, formally the Republic of Korea (ROK). Located on the Korean Peninsula, Korea is bordered by China to the northwest and Russia to the northeast. It is separated from Japan to the east by the Korea Strait and the Sea of Japan .
Korea emerged as a singular political entity after centuries of conflict among the Three Kingdoms of Korea, which were unified as Silla (57 BC – AD 935) and Balhae (AD 698 – 926). The united Silla was eventually succeeded by Goryeo in 935 at the end of the Later Three Kingdoms period. Goryeo, which gave name to the modern exonym "Korea", was a highly cultured state and created the Jikji in the 14th century. The invasions by the Mongol Empire in the 13th century, however, greatly weakened the nation, which forced it into vassalage. After the Yuan dynasty's collapse, severe political strife followed. Goryeo eventually fell to an uprising led by General Yi Seong-gye, who established Joseon in 1388.

North Korea ( listen), officially the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK; Chosŏn'gŭl: 조선민주주의인민공화국; hancha: 朝鮮民主主義人民共和國; MR: Chosŏn Minjujuŭi Inmin Konghwaguk), is a country in East Asia, in the northern part of the Korean Peninsula. The name Korea is derived from the Kingdom of Goguryeo, also spelled as Koryŏ. The capital and largest city is Pyongyang. North Korea shares a land border with China to the north and northwest, along the Amnok (Yalu) and Tumen rivers, and a small section of the Tumen River also forms a border with Russia to the northeast. The Korean Demilitarized Zone marks the boundary between North Korea and South Korea.
Korea was annexed by the Empire of Japan in 1910. After the Japanese surrender at the end of World War II in 1945, Korea was divided into two zones by the United States and the Soviet Union, with the north occupied by the Soviets and the south by the Americans. Negotiations on reunification failed, and in 1948 two separate governments were formed: the Democratic People's Republic of Korea in the north, and the Republic of Korea in the south. An invasion initiated by North Korea led to the Korean War (1950–53). Although the Korean Armistice Agreement brought about a ceasefire, no official peace treaty was ever signed. Both states were accepted into the United Nations in 1991.
UPDATE 5/1/18: Committed to Chapman! What's up class of 2018! Right now's the time where we wait on edge for our film school application results to roll in, and if you're anything like me, you're probably really nervous. Second semester of our senior year just started and results seem so close yet so far away. I know the struggle's been hard for all of us and that we, as fellow student filmmakers, put our passions in every project we made (even our film school application videos). But hey, don't let that nervousness get a hold of you: the important thing's that we keep on creating rad stuff. So here's to us! Best of luck everyone! Accented Cinema - Episode 73 Silenced (2011) is a film based on true events that happened in a school. It is one of the most difficult film I have ever watched, but also one of the most important. It is a shame that it's virtually unknown in the west. Turn the light off
And file these thoughts away for a day
Turn the light off
He files his thoughts away for a day
Take our time off
Better to hear the way that you say
Take our time off
Better to hear the way that you say
She read his fortune
Two years and you're free upon completion
"I'll try my hardest
Just don't confuse me with my confessions"
The final season
He hoped for a crowd at his reception
He weighed his options
And left them behind for no good reason
I'm not changing these thoughts at all
The way that we answer the things that we’re told
No i'm not changing these thoughts at all
The way that we answer the things that we’re told
So turn the light off
I'll end with a perfect splash. Today
